Grand Finale - Six Word Soup!
So happy to end the season at The Kitchen - 231 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43215
Grand Finale - Six Word Soup: A Memoir
Spending the last five years bringing people together over homemade soups and putting over 100K meals into the Columbus hunger relief system leaves me with so many thoughts and stories I could fill a book.
But since I've always liked a challenge I've decided to team up with Larry Smith from Six in the City and try to sum up all those thoughts in Six Words.
Join us Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8 at The Kitchen - 231 E Livingston Ave. 43215 - for Six Word Soup: A Memoir. With our Donation Slow Cooker benefitting Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
Encouraged by themes, Six Word Memoir believes everyone can tell a story in just six words. I'll tell you the story of how I met Larry in six words - Neither of us won the grant.
But that's not stopping us for teaming up to help the hungry and let everyone who has been a part of this movement give us their Souper Heroes 6 word memoirs at our Grand Finale. We can not think of a better way to end this phase of Souper Heroes and get ready for the the upcoming expansion in year 6!
So sign up to make soup for Six Word Soup: A Memoir. You can make whatever soup makes you happy. All we ask is that you name it in Six Words.
Or just mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 17th from 6-8 at The Kitchen - 231 E. Livingston Avenue Columbus, Oh 43215! Enjoy all the complimentary soup and bread you want and take advantage of the opportunity to pay it forward into our Donation Slow Cooker benefiting Mid-Ohio Foodbank!
Meet our Guest Host - Ann Miller-Tobin from Mid-Ohio Foodbank
I was 2 years late arriving at my first soup. I originally signed up to be a souper hero in Jan. 2013 but cancelled last minute because my husband and I got “the call”, we had been chosen by a birth mother and our baby was due any day. I went into scale 10 freak-out mode.
I called Tricia to tell her how sorry I was I had to back out last minute and did she have enough soup makers? I was more than happy to make the soup and drop it off, in between shopping for everything baby in 5 days or less, but I just couldn’t stay and serve.
I think at this point she laughed at me, said I was the first person to call her, ever, to say they couldn’t come. But she thought my reason for cancelling was awesome! Then Tricia shared her story of adoption. I felt an instant bond. She calmed me and talked me off the ledge and had me feeling like I could do this… be ready for a baby in a week. I could feel her genuine joy and happiness for us as we talked and shared. She was so excited and I was still a little panicked.
Fast forward to another cold, snowy January day shortly after my son’s second birthday I arrived at Souper Heroes with my overflowing crockpot and finally introduced myself in person, and I’ve been Souper Hero souping ever since.
Join me and share your Souper Hero memoir!
“I soup to serve, thereby nourished.” - Ann L. Miller-Tobin
